Our retreats theme was "Loving Kindness" and this weekend reflected your kindness and your staff's kindness. Joey, Joycelyn & Bougas for making our adventure one to last a lifetime. Our caregivers have given their lives for others so giving them this gift was our pleasure.

This note will be unique among your visitors. My friend Al and I (Bill) came to this wonderful place on our annual radio trip. Our goal is to find a palce far away from civilization (and strong radio signals) to try and catch very weak ones. And this place proved to be one of the best places we have visited in 30 years of doing this! Comfort and hospitality were tops and the radio catches were very, very good with signals picked up from hundreds of miles away.
Unfortunately, we ran into one unwelcome visitor - no not one with a big tail and teeth - but one that blew in from the tropics called storm Barry and we had to put our visit a day short. We hope to return someday!

Our family had a great time! Been in the area before and I can say this was one of the best times! Joycelyn & Joey welcomed us and had everything at the house ready. Joey took us on airboat rides & everyone enjoyed it, especially the kids! I would definitely return again & recommend this lodge.
Thanks for keeping this place nice and clean.....It's hard to find places like this.

The sky is deep purple. It’s my first morning at the lodge. The light in the East is slowly gathering its strength. This is my time of day. It’s been such as long as I can remember. My ritual is to grab a coffee and head outside no matter where I find myself.

First timers! Three girls, strangers to the country, attempt to come, see and conquer it. Beautiful property, utterly gorgeous. Absolutely happy to be here. Thank you to all and thank you dearly for the home cooked meals on our trip, especially so close to Thanksgiving. The Crawfish Etouffee was delicious!!!😊. It added to a rather remarkable trip, which we hope to repeat soon. Happy Holidays & Merry Christmas

The Wilson family came down from Austin, Texas along with the Billhardts from Austin & the Rays from Kansas City for our young children's (ages 1-7) spring break. Even though we had a slight cool stretch, our stay was spectacular. Much better than going to the beach. We went out in the gator tail boats frogging, exploring in the 4x4's, and even in the air boats. The kids loved the frogs and fishing. The food was authentically local & wonderful. The staff (Dillon & Joe) were very helpful and friendly. Thank you, your friends from Kansas.

What a beautiful, fantastic wonderful home & facility. Our family had the best time riding the boats, riding the Gator All Terrain Vehicle, fishing, seeing the gators, etc.

These city folks got a taste of what country living is reall like! And we're all converts. Can't think of a better way or place to slow down and take it all in. Not to say there weren't some thrilling adventures - compliments of Dylan, Dustin, and Captain Joey. Hollis, my 3 yr. old, went gar fishing, "helped" his dad drive an ATV and went on an airboat creature adventure, complete with baby gators, all before I changed his diaper. Will not soon forget! Thanks so much, we will be back!

"Home, home on the marsh where the birds, ducks & gators aren't sparse, where seldom is heard a discouraging word... unless the mosquitoes are stirred.
Where the air is so thick and the sun is so hot. The breeze is so salty and light that I would not exchange for my home on the marsh, for all of the glorious sights.
Oh give me a home where the wildlife roam. Where the birds, ducks & gators all play. Where seldom is heard a complaint or a yell. Because we always had fun each day."
Thank you for a wonderful home to come back to after long days on the boat! We all loved the peace and tranquility of the salt marsh... and the excitement frogging and catching gators by night. We all can't wait to come back to our home sweet home on the salt marsh!
We are a diverse crew. There are 7 of us. Steve Szealmayer is our dauntless, Chianti loving captain, and Pete is the only one of us that can reel up a shark so we had to bring him along with us (he's also really smart and cooks us fish, so he comes in handy). Megan and Taylor are our other technicians, and Ami, Ashley, and Ana are graduate students that came from Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin (respectively) to obtain their master's degrees. Currently we have been working on a telemetry project on oil rigs off the Gulf of Mexico(which is why we're here). When we're not working long, hard days offshore, we explore the surrounding area. Joey and his son were kind enough to take us "frogging", where we caught about 50 bullfrogs (although a few may have escaped our rather inexperienced hands) and one small alligator! We celebrated by having fried and grilled frog legs the next evening. A true Louisiana experience!
When we weren't frogging, riding Joey's boat, or working offshore, Jocelyn took the utmost care ensuring we were more than comfortable and well-fed(her crawfish etouffee and cheesy mashed potatoes were absolutely divine! I think it's safe to say we had an amazing time here, and we owe it to the genuine hospitality of Joey & Jocelyn. Thank you so much for making our experience here an incredible one!
